MVR Evaporation System for a 300,000 TPA Industrial Silicon Production Project

Customer Profile

The customer is one of the world's leading photovoltaic module manufacturers and integrated smart energy solution providers, with business operations covering photovoltaic products, PV systems, and smart energy solutions.

The company operates across the entire photovoltaic value chain, delivering comprehensive renewable energy solutions for the global clean energy market.

Project Overview

Located within Nanchuan Industrial Park and Ganhe Industrial Park in Qinghai Province, the project represents one of China's major integrated photovoltaic manufacturing investments.

The production complex includes annual manufacturing capacities of:

  • 300,000 tons of industrial silicon
  • 150,000 tons of high-purity polysilicon
  • 35 GW of monocrystalline silicon
  • 10 GW of silicon wafers
  • 10 GW of solar cells
  • 10 GW of photovoltaic modules
  • 15 GW of module auxiliary materials

The total project investment exceeds RMB 50 billion.

Engineering Scope

Baihuipu was responsible for delivering the complete wastewater treatment system under a comprehensive EPC scope, including:

  • Process engineering and system design
  • Equipment procurement and manufacturing
  • International logistics and customs clearance
  • Equipment installation
  • Commissioning and performance testing
  • Trial operation
  • Final project acceptance
  • Technical training
  • After-sales technical support

The project covered the complete implementation cycle, from engineering design and steel structure construction to equipment installation and system commissioning.

To ensure successful project delivery, Baihuipu established a standardized project management system featuring comprehensive quality control, process supervision, schedule management, safety management, full traceability, and visual project monitoring throughout every stage of implementation.

Wastewater Characteristics

The industrial silicon production process generates significant quantities of high-salinity wastewater, primarily consisting of concentrated RO reject water.

Typical wastewater characteristics include:

  • Electrical conductivity exceeding 12,000 μS/cm
  • High concentrations of dissolved salts
  • Continuous industrial discharge
  • Complex process wastewater from multiple production units and auxiliary facilities

Following treatment, the reclaimed water is fully reused within the production process.

Process Description

Municipal water supplied to the production facility is first treated using ultrafiltration (UF) followed by reverse osmosis (RO) to produce high-quality process water for industrial silicon manufacturing.

The concentrate generated by the primary RO system is further treated through:

  • Secondary Reverse Osmosis (RO)
  • Water Softening
  • Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) Evaporation & Crystallization

Recovered water from the MVR system is recycled back into the UF and RO purification process and reused throughout the manufacturing facility.

This closed-loop process enables complete water recycling while eliminating liquid wastewater discharge, fully meeting the project's Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) objectives.

Project Results

Following project completion, the facility achieved:

  • 100% industrial wastewater recycling
  • Total wastewater treatment capacity of 60 m³/h
  • MVR evaporation capacity of 15 m³/h
  • Significant reduction in freshwater consumption
  • Reliable Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) operation
  • Stable compliance with local environmental regulations

The project provides critical environmental infrastructure supporting the development of a world-class silicon manufacturing cluster in Qinghai Province.
