An integrated wastewater treatment solution featuring equalization, Fenton advanced oxidation, coagulation & sedimentation, biological treatment, and advanced filtration for complex lithium battery wastewater, delivering reliable removal of organic pollutants, heavy metals, fluoride, and COD while ensuring stable compliance with environmental discharge standards.
This project was implemented at a new energy battery manufacturing facility in Huizhou, Guangdong, providing a customized wastewater treatment system for wastewater generated during battery cell production, electrode cleaning, and equipment washing.
The system is specifically designed to handle the highly variable wastewater characteristics typical of lithium battery manufacturing, including complex pollutants, poor biodegradability, and continuous industrial operation. The treated effluent consistently complies with the environmental discharge standards applicable to the Pearl River Delta's new energy industry.

This wastewater treatment system is designed for lithium-ion battery, energy storage battery, and battery component manufacturers throughout Huizhou and the Pearl River Delta region.
New energy battery wastewater typically contains refractory organic compounds together with trace heavy metals and fluoride, making it difficult for conventional treatment technologies to achieve stable regulatory compliance.
The solution fully supports the stringent environmental protection requirements for battery manufacturing facilities across South China.

Huizhou is one of the major manufacturing centers for China's rapidly growing new energy industry, with a high concentration of lithium battery and energy storage manufacturers. Continuous production processes generate large volumes of industrial wastewater with characteristics that differ significantly from conventional industrial effluent.
Typical contaminants include refractory organic solvents, polymer binders, fine electrode particles, trace heavy metals, fluoride compounds, and suspended solids. The wastewater exhibits highly fluctuating COD concentrations, poor biodegradability, and complex chemical compositions, making treatment particularly challenging.
Without appropriate treatment, direct discharge may lead to soil and water contamination, heavy metal accumulation in the environment, regulatory non-compliance, and increased environmental risks that can affect long-term manufacturing operations.
Based on the wastewater characteristics of lithium battery production, continuous plant operation, and local environmental regulations in Huizhou, Baihuipu developed a customized wastewater treatment solution emphasizing operational stability, high treatment efficiency, and low maintenance requirements.
Wastewater from different production processes is first collected separately and conveyed to an equalization tank, where flow rate and wastewater quality are balanced. This effectively buffers hydraulic and pollutant shock loads during peak production periods, ensuring stable operation of downstream treatment units.
The wastewater then undergoes precise pH adjustment to establish optimal reaction conditions for Fenton Advanced Oxidation. This process efficiently breaks down refractory organic molecular structures, degrades toxic organic contaminants, and significantly improves wastewater biodegradability before biological treatment.
Subsequently, specialized coagulation and heavy metal treatment chemicals are added to capture trace heavy metals, suspended colloids, fluoride, and residual particulate contaminants. Dense flocs are formed and removed through sedimentation, achieving efficient solid-liquid separation while eliminating the major pollutants before biological treatment.
The pretreated wastewater then enters the A/O biological treatment system, where specialized microbial communities further degrade residual biodegradable organic compounds. Finally, the treated water passes through sand filtration and activated carbon filtration, removing trace impurities and polishing the effluent to achieve consistently stable discharge quality.
The complete treatment system features a high level of automation, excellent resistance to wastewater fluctuations, and low operating costs, making it ideally suited for continuous battery manufacturing operations.
Since commissioning, the project has consistently delivered stable effluent quality that complies with environmental discharge requirements, effectively resolving the customer's wastewater treatment challenges while minimizing environmental risks. The system supports sustainable manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and efficient production, serving as an outstanding reference project for new energy wastewater treatment throughout the Pearl River Delta region.
This successful installation further demonstrates Baihuipu's expertise in delivering reliable, cost-effective, and fully automated industrial wastewater treatment solutions for the global lithium battery and energy storage industries.
